what is model united nations?

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extracurricular activity most commonly available in high school. MUN is a simulation of the United Nations where students role play as delegates and participate in debates about global issues. Students research their assigned country’s position, engage in debate and negotiations with other delegates, and work together to draft resolutions to solve real world problems. Model UN students attend MUN conferences and participate in a committee to solve an issue. These committees are a simulation of UN organizations such as the UN General Assembly, UN Security Council, UNICEF, and others. Some examples of issues being addressed in a committee include global health, international security, gender equality, poverty, climate change, ethical use of technology, and human rights.
